“Akpabio Is Not Only Corrupt, But Also Has A History Of Abusing Women” – Atiku

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of mistreating women, claiming that such behavior dates back to his time as governor of Akwa Ibom.

Atiku made this statement in light of the recent sexual harassment allegations brought against Akpabio by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

During an interview with journalist Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie on the program *Untold Stories*, Atiku was asked whether there were corruption allegations against Akpabio when he was governor.

In response, he said, “Yes. Not only was he corrupt, but he also had a history of abusing women.”

Regarding the 2027 elections, Atiku was questioned about his potential candidacy and who might lead any coalition aiming to challenge the current government.

He responded, “’In 2014, we had a similar merger, with several candidates contesting. We all ran for president and one emerged, and we all supported him. Nigeria has never been in greater need of credible leadership than now.”

The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate also reaffirmed that he had no regrets about not selecting the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as his running mate.

When asked if he was surprised by how quickly the National Assembly approved the state of emergency, Atiku replied, ‘’No. The leadership is corrupt, and I have no apologies for saying that. They could do anything. The Senate President is known for such behavior, even as a governor”
