A man identified as Adamu Muhammed Tenimu caused a stir at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, after he fainted upon hearing that his wife had given birth to triplets—all girls.

According to eyewitnesses, Tenimu was overwhelmed by the unexpected news, and he collapsed shortly after the delivery on Friday.

Hospital staff and bystanders quickly helped him and managed to revive him.

Both the mother and the three newborns are reported to be in stable condition.

Speaking after he regained consciousness, Tenimu, who is currently unemployed, said he felt both thankful and distressed.

While he called the birth a miracle, the man admitted he was struggling with the reality of supporting three babies at once.

“I thank God for this miracle, but I am confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. Right now, we don’t even have the means and financial capacity to pay the hospital bills, let alone care for three babies at once,” he said, visibly emotional.

Tenimu explained that the family had barely made preparations for one child due to limited finances and now found themselves in a much more demanding situation.

“This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money to buy diapers or baby food. I don’t know where to start,” he lamented.

Witnesses confirmed that while the babies were healthy, the family was in urgent need of medical supplies, nutrition, and financial aid to support the care of the newborns.

“The babies are healthy, but this family needs help. We are calling on the government, NGOs, religious groups, and well-meaning Nigerians to support them,” a family member said.

Friends and well-wishers have started reaching out to raise support, urging the Kogi State Government and relevant ministries to intervene.

Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague, described Tenimu as a hardworking and responsible man.

“We urge the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to intervene. The father is a law-abiding, hardworking man, and this situation deserves attention,” Alhassan said.

Another concerned supporter, Sikiru Olamide, added, “The joy of childbirth should not be overshadowed by fear of survival. We must stand together as a people and support this family.”

The triplets, who weighed 1.8kg, 2.0kg, and 2.3kg, are currently being monitored in the hospital’s neonatal unit and are said to be doing well.

KanyiDaily had also reported how a Nigerian apprentice, Cissé Abdullahi solicited the support of well-meaning Nigerians after he planned to flee to Benin Republic after his wife was delivered a set of quadruplets – two boys and two girls – at the Badagry General Hospital, Lagos State.
