At the world heavyweight championship fight at The SSE Arena, Wembley, on Saturday night. Joshua floored Pulev heavily on three occasions, twice in the final round, and ended the fight with a vicious right hand to retain his IBF, WBA and WBO titles.

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari is celebrating the decisive victory of Nigerian-born boxer, Anthony Joshua over Kubrat Pulev on Saturday night. 

In a press release today December 13th 2020, President Buhari said by retaining his IBF, WBA, and WBO titles, Joshua has given boxing lovers round the world, and particularly in Nigeria, something to cheer.

The president recalls his meeting with the heavyweight champion in London earlier in the year, describing Anthony Joshua as a humble, well brought up young man, “who will still go places.”

President Buhari also wished Anthony Joshua the very best in his dream fight against Tyson Fury, saying he has the prayers and goodwill of Nigerians going with him.

In other news, the Nigerian Senate has uncovered how the Ministry of Petroleum Resources spent a whopping N116million on pens, letterhead papers and toners.

Members of the Senate Public Accounts Committee (SPAC) chaired by Senator Mathew Urhogbide (PDP, Edo) were shocked at the discovery of the bogus expenditures on the three items by the Ministry.

Specifically, the sum of N14.5million was spent on Schneider pens, N46million for the Ministry’s letterhead papers and N56million for the supply of tonners.
