Some parents of the abducted Katsina students have refused to go home.

Some parents of the abducted Government Science Secondary School students in the Kankara area of Katsina state, have converged on the school premises, waiting for their children to return as promised by the state governor, Aminu Bello Masari.

KanyiDaily had reported how hundreds of GSS boarding students were abducted by gunmen on Friday night, December 11, 2020, less than 24 hours after President Muhammadu Buhari arrived Katsina for a week long private visit.

On Tuesday, Boko Haram terrorist group claimed responsibility for the abduction, saying the action was carried out to ‘promote Islam and discourage un-Islamic practices’.

Governor Masari had revealed that 17 of the abducted 333 students returned home after escaping from their abductors, leaving 316 of them still in the captivity.

He pleaded for understanding from the parents of the kidnapped students, noting that soldiers and other security operatives are in the forest trying to ensure that the other students are rescued.

Channels TV reports that the parents of the abducted students were patiently waiting for their children’s return while recounting their experiences with their wards.

According to the report, two of the parents said they couldn’t sleep, adding that they would continue to be spending the night at the school until their children are rescued safely.

Meanwhile, a student of the attacked Katsina school who escaped from the abduction, had on Monday claimed that two of his colleagues were killed.
