Kaduna Court Orders ‘Jealous Teacher’ To End Romantic Affair With His Female Student

The teacher was in a romantic relationship with the student and he assaulted her because he saw her with another man.

A Sharia court sitting in Magajin Gari of Kaduna State has ordered a teacher, Yusuf Yusuf, to end any kind of romantic relationship with his female student, Zainab Muhammad.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Ibrahim Shuaibu, told the court that Zainab reported to the police that her teacher had assaulted and injured her on September 5.

Shuaibu further told the court that following investigation, the police discovered that the teacher was in a romantic relationship with her and that he assaulted her because he saw her with another man.

The prosecution said the teacher had also injured Zainab in the face and her body in the ensuing drama after he saw her with another man.

Shuaibu had argued that the jealous teacher’s action contravened the provisions of sections 216 and 211 of Sharia penal code 2002.

However, after his crimes were read to him during the trial, Yusuf pleaded not guilty to the assault charge against him.

The Judge, Malam Murtala Nasir, ordered the teacher to ended his relationship with the student and to pay her N8,500 for medical bill after he assaulted her.

NAN reports that the ruling on Wednesday come after both parties involved in the case opted for an out-of-court settlement.
