The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has held a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde.

Atiku, who was accompanied by his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, Delta State Governoir and other PDP Stalwarts were received by the deputy governor of the state, Bayo Lawal at the Alakia Airport, Ibadan.

On the entourage of the former vice president include, Sokoto State Governor, Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto state; Sen. Dino Melaye; Alhaji Babangida Aliyu; former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State; Governorship Candidate of Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, Ademola Adeleke, the governor-elect of Osun State, former minister of State, FCT, Mrs Jumoke Akinjide, Senator Abiodun Olujimi, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and a host it others.

Prior to the interactive meeting, the Atiku-led delegation was received by Makinde at the Agodi Government House,Ibadan, after which they proceeded to Ogunlesi Hall, University College hospital (UCH), Ibadan for a closed-door meeting with the party hierarchy in the state.

Although the details of the meeting have not been disclosed, it is believed that Atiku is making attempts to reconcile the disagreements within the party.

Makinde, an ally of Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers, are among those demanding the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the PDP.

The call for Ayu’s resignation is said to be on the grounds that the national chairman and the presidential candidate of the party cannot be from the same region.

Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde has called for the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Iyorchia Ayo, saying it will give the people of the South a sense of belonging in the party.
