Endorsement: Obasanjo Will Forever Be A True Elder Statesman – Babangida
Former military President, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida(IBB) has reacted to the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Obasanjo had on Sunday, January 1st, endorsed Obi as his preferred candidate for the 2023 elections.
In the 2023 New Year message signed by the former president and made available to newsmen by his aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo described Obi as his mentee and said the former Anambra State governor had an edge in the 2023 elections.
Reactions and attacks from the major political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have since been trailing the endorsement.
Reacting, Babangida in a tweet on his handle, said Obasanjo will forever be a true elder statesman and a boss in the military.
According to him, no serving general in the Nigerian army as of today joined the military earlier than 1982, adding that Obasanjo had by then, finished his military career.
The former Head of State also noted that he respects Obasanjo a lot with his endorsement.
IBB wrote, “Gen. Olusegun Obasanjo will forever be a true elder statesman and a boss in the military.
“No serving General in the Nigerian Army today joined the military earlier than 1982. By then, Obasanjo had already finished his military career. I respect him a lot, with his endorsement.”

Meanwhile, Kanyi Daily reported that former Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani has said Obasanjo should not be attacked over his endorsement of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi.
