Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari has been granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.

Kyari who has been in detention since his arrest in February 2022 was granted bail on Thursday.

Regarded as Nigeria’s super cop, Abba Kyari was declared wanted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over his alleged involvement in a 25kg cocaine deal.

He was said to be “a member of a cartel that operates the Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria illicit substance pipeline”

He was subsequently arrested and arraigned in court, which ordered his remand in Kuje Prison, Abuja.

The police had set up a panel to probe the conduct of the former head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector General of Police.

He was subsequently suspended from the force.

On Thursday, Justice Kolawole Omotosho of a Federal High Court in Abuja granted him bail under stringent conditions.

However, Kyari still has a criminal case before Justice Emeka Nwite of a federal high Court in Abuja.

In other news, Kanyi Daily reported that The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has filed a six-count charge against the suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, Hudu Yunusa-Ari.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by INEC Spokesman, Festus Okoye.
