American Rapper, NBA YoungBoy Released From Prison

American rapper, NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, has been released from prison amid ongoing legal battles.

Reports indicate that the rapper was freed on Monday, March 24, 2025.

DJ Akademiks, a Jamaican-American podcaster and internet personality, shared the news on X.

He wrote: “Looks like NBA YOUNGBOY has been released from federal prison and either transferred to a half way house or is headed home”.

YoungBoy had originally been sentenced to 27 months on federal charges but later took a no-contest plea in 2024 for 36 additional charges.

As a result, Judge Spencer Walsh downgraded his felony charges to Class A misdemeanors and imposed a $25,000 fine.

The rapper was sentenced to 23 months in prison and five years of supervised release after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm last September.

This conviction stemmed from a 2020 case in which he was arrested alongside 15 others at a music video shoot in Baton Rouge for possessing multiple firearms. He was also ordered to pay a $200,000 fine.

NBA YoungBoy and his legal team fought the firearm charges for over three years before the case was moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where he had been under house arrest.

His case was transferred there after he was linked to a statewide fraudulent prescription drug operation.

He later accepted a plea deal, admitting guilt to two counts of third-degree felony identity fraud, two counts of third-degree felony forgery, and six counts of misdemeanor unlawful pharmacy conduct, while pleading no contest to the remaining charges.

Although his official release date was set for July 27, it appears he has been released earlier than expected.

KanyiDaily recalls that NBA YoungBoy previously expressed regret over the content of his lyrics, vowing to stop making violent music by the direction of his raps.
