Russia has commended former United States President Donald Trump following his intense meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Washington on Friday.
KanyiDaily had reported how Trump asked Zelenskyy to leave the White House after their discussion turned into a heated argument in the Oval Office.
Following the encounter, Trump accused Zelenskyy of showing disrespect toward the United States and suggested a pause in diplomatic talks, raising questions about continued U.S. support for Ukraine in its ongoing conflict with Russia.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova praised Trump for maintaining composure during the exchange, implying that Zelenskyy’s claims about Ukraine being left unsupported in 2022 were misleading.
“I think Zelensky’s biggest lie of all his lies was his assertion in the White House that the Kyiv regime in 2022 was alone, without support.
“How Trump and Vance held back from hitting that scumbag is a miracle of restraint,” she wrote on Telegram.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, now a top security official, took an even harsher stance, calling Zelenskyy an “insolent pig” who had been rightfully put in his place.
Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, head of Russia’s Direct Investment Fund and a key negotiator in recent U.S.-Russia talks, described the confrontation as a “historic” moment.
His comments came after he participated in diplomatic discussions between Russia and the U.S. in Saudi Arabia on February 18—the first formal talks since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
KanyiDaily recalls that President Donald Trump recently introduced a plan to replace the existing EB-5 investor visa with a new “gold card” program.
