The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has reacted to a viral video showing a mother giving alcohol to her baby to help the child sleep.
In the video, the woman is seen holding a sachet of alcohol, which she opens and gives to her infant.
Reacting to the footage on X, the police said they are aware of the disturbing clip and have launched an investigation.
They stressed that giving alcohol to a child is both dangerous and illegal.
The police also called on members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could help identify and locate the woman.
“They can reach out to us on 09169967000. The child’s safety is our priority,” the statement read.
