During a recent interview with Angie Martinez, the Grammy-winning artist opened up about her views on marriage, saying it should focus on growth, compatibility, and accountability rather than just emotions.
Tems revealed what she looks for in a partner, saying she values a God-fearing husband, as she feels this ensures accountability in the relationship.
She added that if someone controls their own life without guidance, they could walk away at any time, which is why marriage is about personal growth and becoming a better person.
“My partner has to be a God-fearing man. Because why would you truly love me if you don’t have anyone that you answer to? If you’re not accountable to anyone, how could you choose to love and keep loving me for the rest of our lives?
“If you’re the god of your life, why would you love me forever? You could just discard me anytime you want. But marriage is something that makes you better as a human being. It should. It shouldn’t be about only love, it’s about compatibility.
“It’s about whether a relationship makes you a better person, like it evolves you. Because marriage is a whole another level, it’s supposed to bring out the hard times,” she stated.
KanyiDaily recalls that Tems revealed she has never been in love but hopes to experience it someday.
