Man Utd Suspends Mason Greenwood After He Was Arrested For Assaulting Girlfriend
Manchester United player, Mason Greenwood has been arrested after he was accused of sexual assault and domestic violence by his girlfriend, Harriet Robson.
KanyiDaily recalls that Robson had taken to her Instagram stories on Sunday morning to share horrific photos and videos of injuries she claims the footballer inflicted on her when he allegedly forced himself on her.
In some of the gory photos she shared, Robson had bruises on her thighs, while another image showed blood flowing from her mouth to her chest.
Robson also shared an audio message in which she accused the 20-year-old English international player of being responsible for the wounds.
Mason Greenwood Arrested
In a statement on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed a man in his 20s had been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.
The statement reads, “Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.
“An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Inquiries are ongoing.
Manchester United Suspend Mason Greenwood
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Premier League gaint said they were launching their own investigation before announcing Greenwood’s suspension.
The statement reads: “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”
“Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice,” it added.
20-year-old Greenwood, who is a graduate of Manchester United’s academy, has registered 35 goals in 129 appearances for the Red Devils.
This comes five months after Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy was charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
