A former lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Shehu Sani has mocked the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress APC) government for plunging Nigerians deeper into poverty.

Shehu Sani Reacts To NBS Report On Poor Nigerians

KanyiDaily recalls that President Buhari had promised that his administration is committed towards lifting 109 million Nigerians out of poverty.

However, on Thursday, November 17, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed that 133 million Nigerians are living in poverty under Buhari’s administration.

According to the report, 63 percent of Nigerians are poor due to a lack of access to health, education, and living standards, alongside unemployment and shocks.

Reacting on his Twitter page on Friday, Sani slammed the government for failing to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty, instead threw 133 million into abject poverty.

He said, “They promised to lift one hundred million people out of poverty; now they have officially thrown one hundred and thirty three million people into deeper poverty.”

KanyiDaily recalls that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had also accused President Muhammadu Buhari of starving the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of funds, in order to manipulate the unemployment data in the country.
