Dangote Warns Truck Operators Against Using Company Logo Without Permission

The Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has warned truck operators against using its company logo without authorisation, saying the practice has caused embarrassment and misrepresentation of its brand.

The company explained that despite repeated warnings, some independent truckers continue to brand their vehicles with the Dangote logo, often for personal benefit.

It added that in some cases, such vehicles were linked to accidents and other incidents wrongly associated with Dangote.

To address the problem, Dangote said it is stepping up surveillance in partnership with law enforcement and security agencies, with plans to prosecute anyone caught misusing its brand identity.

“We have repeatedly cautioned truckers to refrain from using our logo on unauthorised vehicles. Moving forward, we will increase vigilance and take decisive legal action against misuse of our brand identity, particularly concerning vehicles unaffiliated with the Dangote Group,” the company said.

Dangote also raised concerns over the spread of false reports linking its trucks to road accidents, urging the public and media to confirm facts before publishing or sharing such claims.

The company stressed that its transport operations are among the largest in Africa, with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria alone, more than 3,000 of which belong to third-party contractors.

“The Dangote Group operates one of the largest commercial fleets in Africa, with over 12,000 trucks in Nigeria alone, including over 3,000 owned by third-party contractors.

“On any given day, more than 6,000 vehicles are actively engaged in operations that support the company’s extensive logistics network, generating over 36,000 direct and indirect jobs.

“We maintain close cooperation with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other regulatory bodies to standardise, monitor, train, and enhance our operational practices. Continuous internal audits enable us to identify gaps, adopt global best practices, and strengthen compliance across our fleet,” the company explained.

This comes a few days after Dangote Industries Limited distanced itself from claims that one of its trucks was responsible for the fatal accident that occurred in Enugu State.
