Kogi State House Of Assembly Impeaches Speaker, Deputy and 10 Other principal officers

The Kogi state House of Assembly this morning, impeached the Speaker of the Assembly, Abdullahi Bello, his Deputy  and ten other principal officers.

The Kogi state House of Assembly has been in disarray in the last few months over plan by some aggrieved members to remove the Speaker and other principal officers of the House. The Speaker has been having a running battle with some lawmakers who had been plotting to remove him from office.

It is not clear how many lawmakers were at the early morning’s sitting as the House was not set to sit until Thursday. The Minority Leader of the assembly, Yori Afolabi, had previously warned against the desperate attempt to remove the leadership of the House, noting that the executive arm of government is dangling N15 million to any lawmaker who consents to the plot.
