A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to release businesswoman Aisha Achimugu within 24 hours.

Justice Inyang Ekwo, also directed that both the EFCC and Achimugu report back to the court on May 2nd to update on the situation.

The judge had on Monday ordered Achimugu to surrender to the EFCC as part of an investigation into money laundering and other alleged crimes.

On Wednesday, Justice Ekwo held that following her submission, the EFCC was instructed to bring her before the court again on April 30th to provide a report on her case.

KanyiDaily recalls that the EFCC had arrested Aisha Achimugu at 5 a.m. on Tuesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The arraigned for multiple charges including conspiracy, fraud, money laundering, corruption, and owning properties suspected to have been obtained illegally.

Although she had been questioned before and released on bail, the EFCC later accused her of skipping bail and issued a warrant for her arrest.

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2024, Aisha Achimugu Foundation distributed food items, monetary benefits, and other essential gifts to over 1,000 vulnerable individuals in Kabusa, Abuja.
