Trump Labels Putin ‘Crazy’ After Russia Launches Deadly Drone Attacks On Ukraine

Former U.S President Donald Trump has criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him “crazy” after Russia carried out a deadly overnight drone attack on Ukraine, the largest since the war began.

The attack on Sunday killed at least 13 people, including children, and hit several Ukrainian cities.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said, “I’ve always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin of Russia, but something has happened to him. He has gone absolutely CRAZY!”

“I’ve always said that he wants ALL of Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s proving to be right, but if he does, it will lead to the downfall of Russia!” he added.

Trump’s remarks come as a surprise, given his usual friendly tone toward Putin. However, he’s recently grown more vocal about Russia’s refusal to move forward in ceasefire talks with Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters earlier Sunday, Trump said he was “not happy” with Russia’s latest attack and is “definitely” considering tougher sanctions on Moscow.

“I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all,” he said.

The recent wave of drone and missile strikes left Ukraine in fear.

According to emergency officials, the atmosphere was one of “terror,” especially in Kyiv, where explosions rocked the capital for the second night in a row.

Among the dead were children aged 8, 12, and 17 in the Zhytomyr region.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky responded by urging for stronger global pressure on Russia.

“Without truly strong pressure on the Russian leadership, this brutality cannot be stopped. The silence of America, the silence of others around the world only encourages Putin,” he said, adding: “Sanctions will certainly help.”

Trump didn’t spare Zelensky either, criticizing him for how he addresses the situation, accusing him of “doing his Country no favors by talking the way he does. Everything out of his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it, and it better stop.”

Though Ukraine reported more Russian attacks overnight into Monday, officials said they were less intense than the previous days. In the Zaporizhzhia region, two people were injured, and a home was destroyed after a strike on the village of Yurkivka.
