10 Year Old Girl Gives Birth To A Baby Girl!

A 10 year old girl last night, April 5th, gave birth to a healthy baby making her one of the world’s youngest mothers. The unnamed girl from Manaure, a town in the Colombian Department of La Guajira, arrived at the hospital in tears and “enormous pain” from the contractions, according to Univision’s Primer Impacto. She reportedly delivered her daughter, who weighed 5 pounds, by cesarean section.

The young mother is not the first young child to give birth. Last year, a 10-year-old Mexican girl gave birth to a baby boy.

In Colombia, abortions are illegal unless there is a threat to the life or health of the mother or if the pregnancy is the result of rape, according to a Columbian law passed in 2006.

That law was passed after an 11-year-old girl had to go to court to get an abortion authorized after it was revealed that she had been impregnated by her stepfather. A 10-year-old Colombian girl gave birth last week to a daughter.

While the story has horrified people around the world, little is known about the young girl’s identity, the baby’s father or how such a young girl is coping with the shock of becoming a mother.

She is reported to not understand much about motherhood and doesn’t want to breastfeed her baby.
