Former presidential candidate and activist, Omoyele Sowore has announced that he will meet with the Nigerian Police on Monday.

It was gathered that the activist was invited in connection with a viral video he shared on social media exposing alleged extortion at a police checkpoint in Lagos.
Sowore had previously disclosed on Facebook that a senior police officer contacted him regarding the video, which led to a police investigation.
On Wednesday night, he revealed that the police were searching for him but confirmed his availability in Abuja and readiness to cooperate.
In a post on X.com on Friday, Sowore shared a photo of the police invitation letter, writing, “The PoliceNG invitation has arrived, I will be there on Monday as requested.”
The invitation, issued by the Force Intelligence Department, cited allegations including resisting and obstructing public officers, disobeying lawful orders, cyberstalking, and other related offenses.
The letter requested Sowore’s presence for questioning with the Deputy Inspector General of Police at the Force Intelligence Department Complex in Abuja on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 10 a.m
The letter partly read, “This office is investigating case of Resisting and Obstructing Public Officers, Disobedience to Lawful Order, Acts Intended to Cause Grievous Harm or Prevent Arrest, Compelling Action by Intimidation, Reckless & Negligent Acts, Refusal to Assist Public Servant and Cyberstalking in which your name featured, prominently.
“You are requested to report for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) through the undersigned, at SPO’s Room 212, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department (FID) Complex, Shehu Shagari way, opposite Force Headquarters Area 11, Garki, Abuja on Monday, 27th January, 2025 at 10am.”
The letter also noted that Omoyele Sowore is free to bring his lawyer.

KanyiDaily recalls that in 2021, Omoyele Sowore was reportedly shot by a police officer during a protest at the Unity Fountain in Abuja.
