The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has revealed that security operatives arrested over 100 political thugs in Bagwai Local Government Area of Kano State during Saturday’s by-election.

According to NAN, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kano, Abdu Zango, disclosed this while briefing journalists after inspecting polling units in Bagwai town.
He explained that the suspects, who were armed, were picked up while attempting to disrupt the voting process in the Bagwai/Shanono Federal Constituency.
Zango said that the swift response of security personnel restored calm and allowed voting to continue.
He also stated that election materials had been delivered to all polling units, though some locations experienced delays due to logistics challenges and the initial disruption caused by the arrests.
Most polling stations, however, commenced voting between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
The REC praised security agencies for their intervention and assured that those arrested would be prosecuted.
KanyiDaily recalls that Ogun State Police Command also arrested two INEC officials and PDP members, including the state chairman, Abayomi Tella, for vote buying in the Remo Federal Constituency election.
