Fuel Scarcity: Filling Stations Shut Down Operation In Rivers Over Arrest Of Tanker Drivers 1

Residents of Port Harcourt, Rivers States capital, may face scarcity of Premium Motor Spirit also known as petrol, as filling stations have begun indefinite strike in the state.

Punch reports that filling stations in Port Harcourt shut down operations to protest the arrest of some tanker drivers and seizure of their vehicles.

The majority of the filling stations were said to have stopped dispensing fuel to motorists and other consumers since midnight on Tuesday after another tanker was said to have been seized by the State Task Force on illegal parking.

Punch reporters, who monitored the situation in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, observed that Tonnino Filling Station, Jet and Royal Dynasty on Ada George Road were all shut down.

Also, Eterna filling station located along Peter Odili Road was also shut down.

Meanwhile, KanyiDaily recalls that NNPC had hinted that the price of fuel may be increased soon, as it described the N145 pump price as the cheapest in West Africa.
