The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrsted and detained a former minister of power, Sale Mamman over an alleged N22bn fraud.

According to TheCable, Sale Mamman was arrested in the early hours of Wednesday, May 10, and is being detained at the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja.

It is alleged that he conspired with staff of the ministry in charge of the accounts of the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects to divert N22 billion and share among themselves.

Investigations uncovered properties in Nigeria and overseas allegedly linked to the suspects, while millions of naira and dollars have reportedly been recovered.

Sale Mamman who was appointed by the President Muhammadu Buhari in August 2019 was dismissed exactly two years in 2021.

KanyiDaily recalls that when he was still the minister of power in 2020, Sale Mamman claimed that Nigerians were enjoying between 18 to 24 hours of power supply everyday.
