Porsha Williams Files For Divorce From Simon Guobadia After 15 Months Of Marriage

Porsha Williams, a star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, has filed for divorce from her husband, Simon Guobadia, after 15-month marriage.

According to documents obtained by USA TODAY on Friday, Williams submitted her petition on Thursday in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia.

In her filing, Williams said she is “entitled to a divorce from (Guobadia) on the grounds that the marriage is irretrievably broken … and there are no prospects for a reconciliation.”

42-year-old said that she and Guobadia “are currently living in a bona fide state of separation” and also requested that the court enforce the prenuptial agreement that was executed on November 17, 2022, just days before their marriage on November 22, 2022.

She also seeks an order for Guobadia, 59, to cover her “reasonable attorney’s fees and expenses of litigation incurred” during the divorce proceedings.

The divorce filing, made on February 22 in Georgia, coincided with revelations that Guobadia faced potential deportation due to the denial of his US citizenship request, attributed to past fraudulent activities such as credit card fraud and identity fraud since his entry to the US from Nigeria in 1985.

From the outset, Porsha Williams and Guobadia’s relationship was marked by controversy. Williams left the Bravo franchise after announcing their engagement just a month into their relationship.

Guobadia, at the time, was still legally married to Falynn Pina, a friend of Williams on the show. Williams insisted their friendship was only for the sake of the show.

Despite Guobadia’s immigration issues, sources reveal that the divorce is  unrelated to recent allegations concerning Simon’s past, and the specific cause of their separation remains an ongoing matter.

The couple’s union was celebrated in November 2022, first with a traditional wedding ceremony in Nigeria, followed by an extravagant American ceremony in Atlanta at the Four Seasons, attended by 250 guests.

Porsha Williams, aged 42, has a 4-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, while Simon Guobadia, aged 59, is a father of five older children.

The divorce comes three years after Porsha Williams announced her engagement to Simon Guobadia, the ex-husband of her friend, Falynn Pina.
