Godswill Akpabio Asks Court To Order Natasha Akpoti To Delete Satirical Apology Post

The Senate President Godswill Akpabio has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to order Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, to take down a satirical apology she posted on social media.

On April 27, Natasha Akpoti posted a sarcastic apology to Akpabio on her Facebook page, along with a short video.

In the post, the senator mockingly apologized for what she called “the crime of maintaining dignity and self-respect.”

This post came despite an earlier court order from Justice Binta Nyako, which barred both parties from making public comments about the ongoing case, particularly anything related to the sexual harassment allegations, until the case is concluded.

Akpabio’s lawyer, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), told the court the post violated that order.

He asked the court to compel Akpoti-Uduaghan to delete the post from all her social media accounts.

The legal team is also requesting that the court order her to publish a formal apology in at least two national newspapers and submit an affidavit proving that she followed the court’s instructions.
