President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, for his first official visit to the state since taking office.
Tinubu landed at the Chinua Achebe Airport around 12:15 pm on Thursday and was welcomed by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.
One of the major highlights of the visit is the commissioning of Anambra’s first-ever Government House, a significant development more than three decades after the state was created.
Tinubu is also expected to commission several other projects completed under Governor Soludo’s administration.
Speaking on “Sunrise Daily”, a Channels TV program, Anambra State Commissioner for Works, Ifeanyi Okoma, said residents are excited about the newly built government house.
Okoma said, “For 34 years Anambra State is the only state that does not have a government house and we sit in a makeshift house that is outside the state capital which is at Amawbia.
“But today, there is something to celebrate, Anambra State by the grace of God has through the leadership of Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, we have a government house that is sitting close to 8 hectares of land and it is going to be the biggest and the greenest state house in the country.”
This marks Tinubu’s second trip to the South-East this year. His first was in January, when he visited Enugu State.
As part of this visit, the president will also meet with key stakeholders in a town hall session and unveil other notable projects, including the Solution Fun City.
