The arrest happened just a few hours after Baruwa and his supporters entered NURTW’s office in Abuja and took control from the faction led by MC Oluomo.
The union has been facing a leadership crisis since 2024, with Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, also known as MC Oluomo, both claiming control.
In November 2024, members of the union voted MC Oluomo as the national president.
However, the matter later went to court, and the judgment was in Baruwa’s favour.
Following the court judgement, Baruwa’s faction took over the secretariat on Monday after a forceful entry into the building.
