Burna Boy And Tems Bag Nominations For 2023 Grammy Awards [FULL LIST]

Nigerian superstars, Burna Boy and Tems, have been nominated for the 2023 edition of the Grammy Awards which would be held in Los Angeles, United States.

Grammy Nominations 2023

The nomination list was released by the Academy on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, as the award ceremony is set for February 5, 2023.

Burna Boy’s latest album, Love, Damini, was nominated in the Best Global Music Album category, alongside other albums from international music stars including Beninese legend, Angélique Kidjo.

Apart from Angélique Kidjo and Ibrahim Maalouf (Queen of Sheba), Burna Boy will battle it out with Berklee Indian Ensemble  (Shuruaat), Anoushka Shankar, Metropole Orkest, and Jules Buckley featuring Manu Delago (“Between Us … (Live), and Masa Takumi (Sakura) for the Best Global Music Album category.

The singer was also nominated for Best Global Music Performance for his hit track, “Last Last.”

Burna Boy will battle Arooj Aftab and Anoushka Shankar ( Udhero Na), Matt B and Eddy Kenzo (Gimme Love), Rocky Dawuni featuring Blvk H3ro (Neva Bow Down),  Wouter Kellerman, Zakes Bantwini and Nomcebo Zikode (Bayethe).

Meanwhile, Tems was nominated for “Wait For U,” her collaboration with Future and Drake, under the Best Melodic Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

The songstress also received a nomination for being part of Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ album. The album was nominated in the Album of the Year category.

Angélique Kidjo is also nominated for her Woman King song “Keep Rising” under the Best Song Written for Visual Media category, while Nigerian-American singer and rapper, Tobe Nwigwe got nominated for Best New Artist.

Beyonce leads all contenders with nine nominations, followed by rapper Kendrick Lamar with eight, and pop diva Adele and balladeer Brandi Carlile tied at seven each.

Beyonce and her husband Jay-Z are now tied as the most nominated artists in Grammys history, with 88 each.
