Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has sparked reactions on social media with his thoughts on what it would take to restore Nigeria’s greatness.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Bashir El-Rufai said that certain people need to die for Nigeria to become great again.
“Nigeria can become great again. Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on context) a few certain people have to kpai to achieve this dream,” he wrote.
His comment quickly drew criticism, with many users suggesting he should start by handing over his father, given the former governor’s political influence.
Bashir responded by saying, “Anyone that knows me knows I wholeheartedly acknowledge his flaws, furthermore I often disagree with many of his views. That is the sort of family I was raised in.”
His post has stirred mixed reactions online, with some praising his honesty and others criticizing his choice of words.

KanyiDaily recalls that Bashir El-Rufai recently declared support for former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, whom he had often criticized in the past.
