The United States Department of State has announced a $7 million reward to anyone that can provide credible information that will lead to the arrest of Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau.

The offer, which is about N2.52 billion in Nigerian currency, was made in a tweet posted on the French version of the Department’s official Twitter handle.

The US Department of the State also provided numbers to reach with any information anyone may have on the leader of the terrorist group.

The tweet roughly translates to: “The United States Department of State offers a #reward of up to $7 million for information leading to the arrest of #terrorist Abubakar #Shekau, leader of #Boko_Haram. #Whatsapp: +1 202 975 9195 #Telegram: @RFJ_Francais_bot.”

It was not clear why the Department of State chose to declare Shekau wanted in the French version of its Twitter accounts, but the bounty was the biggest placed on all the terrorists declared wanted by the United States government.

In the English version of the Twitter account, the Reward for Justice Program also offered $5million reward for information on 3 ISIS leaders and another $6m on another terror group AQAP leaders.
