President Bola Tinubu is holding a closed-door meeting with top security officials at the State House ahead of his trip to Rome for Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration.
The meeting includes key figures such as the Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Air Staff, Hassan Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Emmanuel Ogalla; and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
Although the specific agenda hasn’t been disclosed, the discussion is likely focused on recent security challenges, including attacks on military bases and rising violence in parts of the country.
Tinubu is set to leave for Rome on Saturday to attend the inauguration mass of Pope Leo XIV, who recently became the 267th Bishop of Rome and the new leader of the Catholic Church. The event will be attended by world leaders and senior Catholic figures.
KanyiDaily recalls that the Vatican announced that Pope Leo XIV’s inauguration will be held on May 18 with a mass at St. Peter’s Square, officially marking the start of his papacy following the death of Pope Francis.
